Advantage for Cats and Dogs and Frontline for cats both are excellent products, but they cannot be used for tiny puppies, for instance. Contrary to both Advantage and Frontline, Capstar can be used on puppies and kittens down to four weeks of age and as tiny as two pounds. It appears to have an enormous margin of error. The same dosage can be used on tiny puppies down to 2 pounds or dogs up to 25 pounds, and a second dosage is used for dogs from 26 all the way up to 125 pounds. That is from a five to 12 fold variation in the dosage.
It is safe, and it is effective. Fully 90% of the fleas will be dead within a couple of hours.
CAPSTAR is an oral tablet. A single dose should kill the adult fleas on your pet. If your pet gets re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once per day. Be sure to buy enough to be able to treat several different days as you get your fleas under control.
