Little Known Ways to Save On Airfares

Posted by Melvin on Feb 18, 2009 in Stormy Life

There are lots of great Internet Web sites which provide plenty of easy ways to save a lot of money when buying airline tickets. Web sites such as priceline.com, Travelocity dot com, and cheaptickets dot com allow you to see what the lowest prices are from a variety of airlines and airports at any given time. The surest way to find airfares that are the best buys is the use the Internet.

Here are some tips for shopping online for airline tickets: First, start looking as early as possible. Ticket prices will go up dramatically when you are within a few weeks of your proposed trip. For instance, if you want to take a trip in early July, try to have your ticket purchased before the middle of June. You can find the best prices by shopping in the middle of the week. Try shopping for your tickets on a Tuesday. Airfare cheap deals are becoming scarcer, just take the time to do an Internet search for prices and you will find them.

Second, try flying at unpopular times. Over night flights and flights in the middle of the week will always be cheaper than weekend trips during the middle of the afternoon. You would pay a lot more to have this kind of convenience. If you do not need it, you can save money. Some web sites will allow you to name your own price. You can offer a price much lower than the fares posted, but if they take your bid, you will have to buy that ticket right away. Do not be afraid to name a price lower than you think you could get. Always be willing to have stop overs (often incorrectly called a lay over) at airports during your flight.

A very cheap flight may stop over at two or three airports before you reach your destination. Do not forget to pack light! Most Air Lines now charge for each piece of luggage you bring with you. Try to only pack a carry on bag, to save the most money. If you absolutely need a lot of items once you have gotten to your destination, analyze what you need once you arrive. It may be cheaper to ship items to your final destination, or to buy some items when you get there.

Be informed of what tickets normally cost. Do lots of research and visit the ticket buying sites frequently so you will know when you see a good deal. If your purpose is to save on airfare then use a search engine and the Internet. Sometimes really great deals are only available for a short time. If you visit your site frequently, you better your chances for a great deal. Sign up to be on the mailing lists for the ticket selling websites. They will email you about great deals to specific locations. Using these techniques I have purchased plane tickets to fly all over the country, often for around two hundred dollars per ticket.

Facts about Marquees and their uses.

Posted by Melvin on Feb 18, 2009 in Stormy Life

Tents that are used for external events or marquees are pretty common for large weddings, fairs, corporate hospitality events and other large social gatherings where the possibility of being effected by the weather is ever present. They are often made out of PE (polythene) or PVC, PVC being stronger than the other, these have mainly replaced the canvas that was used previously due to the fact they are simpler to clean giving them a longer life than the older materials.

Marquees can be found in a do it youself package up to about 20 feet (6m) wide these can be pop up marquees taking less time to raise. 30 to 150 feet (9m to 45m) widths require specialized equipment and skill to raise, so they must usually be rented or a course must be undertaken to ensure safe raising. Many companies own big (9m to 45m wide) marquee tents but have them installed and looked after by qualified experts. Most pole marquees are held down and tensioned with ratchets and/or stakes unless on a hard surface when weights are used to keep the structure in situ.

Whereas the first pole marquees used wooden poles to support the structure, many of the more modern marquees use an aluminium frame to hold them up. This is mainly due to the fact that they are better wearing, practical and versatile than wooden pole marquees. Wooden pole marquees on the other hand have a lovely feel to them that individuals sometimes prefer with the central ridge poles becoming a feature of the marquee. Aluminium marquees on the other hand are able to support the entire tent from the outside of the structure, leaving the internal space completely open for tables or dance floor, seating areas, swimming pool, etc.

If you visit your local market or business exhibition you will more than likely see a number of aluminium edged tents with high peaks. These have become quite the trend of late being very good at shedding water, cleaner looking, easy to instal and with fewer parts. Often Marquee’s can be used in conjunction with other marquees allowing you to increase the area covered with the addition of guttering between to prevent any water getting in. There are a multitude of colours that can be chosen from when choosing a marquee and many marquees now have sky lights in them.

Tents have been used for centuries as basic covers, temporary storage areas and nomadic homes but still have a place in modern life. As science takes more and more of a hand in how marquees are made and used it will be interesting to see how this most basic of structures will advance in the future.

Gwyneth actually follows a healthy eating plan that resembles Oprah’s, avoiding sugar and white flour. She usually follows a macrobiotic diet, eating foods like vegetables, brown rice, and lean meat. She
also eliminated dairy from her diet, and does yoga everyday.

5. Madonna

Make becoming a mystery shopper a Part-Time Business

Posted by Melvin on Feb 18, 2009 in Stormy Life

If you like to shop, like me, you probably do it as much to purchase what you need and want as for the enjoyment of looking and comparing.  We all have to shop, some time or another, for everything from groceries and clothing to dinners and gifts. I know finding a great deal makes me as happy as having a great dinner or seeing a great movie.

For me, the guilty part of spending time shopping is knowing I should be working and earning instead of spending. At one time, I even considered a part-time job for “mad money” just for shopping. If only I could earn and spend at the same time.

But there is a way to offset the cost of shopping, by getting paid while you do it – becoming a mystery shopper!  At first I was skeptical, when I searched the term on the Internet. I’d never heard of such a thing. I was surprised – the more I read, the more it made sense.

Retailers, restaurants, and even travel agencies need feedback to be sure their services and products are what they should be, and what better way to get that than a person using the services, buying the products and then reporting back to the company?

So, instead of just shopping, I mystery shop. To be sure, I had to do my homework. A great start was the ebook called  the “Mystery Shopper Handbook.” This is a great beginning, with all the information I needed (and the questions I needed to answer for myself!) to get ready for my part-time job.

I knew I could handle the shopping assignments, but I needed time to set up to do the scheduling and reporting that comes with them. I searched many websites, too, and found some companies to sign on with. With my computer, fax machine, files and calendar in place, I was ready to get paid to shop!

I was careful to pick and choose my assignments carefully, slowly at first, so I could get the reporting done correctly and on time.  I had no trouble getting shops in my area, and I enjoy the control I have over what and when I choose. It’s the perfect combination of shopping and earning  for me – a part-time job doing something I’d enjoy anyway!
