Taekwondo Forms
is a martial art and fighting sport originally from Korea. It aims to achieve self control, modesty, perseverance and indomitable spirit.
Through dedicated training the student can hope to gain mental and physical fitness. By dedicated practising and repeating every move to near perfection, we become more and more patient. Self-confidence is attained through the power of one’s body and the knowledge of how to use it anywhere and in any situation. Free sparring helps us gain humility, courage, alertness, and accuracy and develops self-control. By doing Taewkondo forms , we maximise our flexibility, grace, balance and our body co-ordination.
Through the discipline and interaction with other students, we learn both co-operation and mutual respect. As well as developing a healthier, leaner and more flexible body, we also improve stamina through a typical tkd training regime. The health-related effects of training are plentiful.
Taekwondo has been going through a learning process for over several thousand years. Nonetheless, it was not until the 1950s that Taekwondo was standardized and organized by Gen Choi Hong Hi and the martial art was taken outside the Korean borders, firstly to Vietnam and the US, and then to the rest of the world. Today, Taekwondo is organized in to three international federations: WTF,ITF and the GTFTaekwondo with the first competition held during the Sydney olympics
