The Healing Benefits of Vitamin Supplements
Health supplements have received a lot of credit over the last decade or so, but regardless of some of the claims made, they are not the secret elixir of life. Having said that, it is extremely tempting to view them as just that. Any product that can help turn back time, look better, stave off cancer and heart disease, enhance your immune system, fight off illness, help you manage anxiety attack and supercharge your energy levels certainly sounds pretty miraculous or magical.
A few decades ago, when word started to spread about the healthful potential of vitamin supplements, lots of people started to clamber for vitamin pills and were eager to learn if they might be included in a liver detox diet plan. As it turned out, so did health practitioners and even some physicians. For a while, it was starting to sound like you could protect yourself against illness just by taking loads of vitamins. Just take enough vitamins or the right combination of vitamins, and bingo! Perfect health was just round the corner.
The bad news is that there’s more to perfect health than just vitamins. Of course, health supplements, irrespective of their life enhancing properties, can’t fix every illness known to man. They do, however, have an important part in our diets. Research breakthroughs over just the past few years are bringing the subject to the fore again. A lot of the properties of vitamins that are being researched regarding the life enhancing powers of these nutrients will blow your mind.
Here’s a brief overview of just one of the many studies on the subject. The study took place in London, UK, and followed 180 workers in management roles within the manufacturing industry. In the program, they gave one group a typical multivitamin/mineral supplement and another group a look-alike pill that did not contain nutrients. At the end of eight weeks, the results showed that those taking the vitamins pills experienced a marked improvement in their quality of life.
Those who were receiving the placebo noticed no change at all. Researchers concluded that the supplements appeared to have a positive effect on improving the workers attitude, wellbeing and overall stress levels. All of this from just a daily multivitamin pill… with all those clinical trials to confirm their conclusions.
As ongoing research studies collect more data giving more evidence to the life enhancing powers of vitamins, especially when they are included as part of a natural detox diet, we’re right back where we were twenty years ago: eager to make use of these health enhancing properties – yet totally overwhelmed with the mass of mis-information on the subject. While the reasons for taking vitamins and minerals are now backed up by clinical trials, finding health supplements that actually work can be very confusing.
